El cambio climático (CC) pone mayores presiones sobre la vulnerabilidad de la producción de café, este fenómeno contribuirá con mayores pérdidas en el rendimiento y calidad de la producción con efectos directos en el ingreso del productor y sobre su calidad de vida. El objetivo de la presente tesis fue analizar el impacto potencial del CC sobre el valor de las tierras dedicadas a la producción de café, así como la percepción del riesgo del productor y las medidas de adaptación que ante dicho fenómeno se han implementado en la región Mazateca de Oaxaca y la región de Cuetzalan Puebla. La presente investigación se realizó bajo el enfoque Ricardiano y un estudio sobre percepción del riesgo. Se encontró que el CC impactará drásticamente sobre el valor de las tierras dedicadas a la producción de café. Las estimaciones del impacto del CC sobre el valor de las tierras para la región Mazateca irían de 25% a 168% y para la región Cuetzalan de 37% a 177%. Los productores identificaron que el CC afectará el rendimiento y la calidad del producto, contribuyendo en la diminución de sus ingresos agrícolas. La percepción del riesgo no está siendo suficiente para que los productores implementen estrategias adaptativas en sus agroecosistemas. En cambio, la migración sigue siendo una ruta de escape ante la crisis cafetalera. Por la importancia socioeconómica que representa esta actividad para los países productores de café y la complejidad de los factores que influyen en la problemática, es necesaria mayor investigación aplicada que contribuya a entenderla mejor y coadyuve en la identificación de riesgos y amenazas para generar estrategias oportunas de adaptación y mitigación a los impactos potenciales del CC. _______________ POTENTIAL IMPACT OF CLIMATE CHANGE ON COFFEE PRODUCTION IN THE MAZATECA REGION OF OAXACA AND THE CUETZALAN REGION, PUEBLA. ABSTRACT: Climate change (CC) puts greater pressure on the vulnerability of coffee production, this phenomenon will contribute to greater losses in the yield and quality of production with direct effects on the income of the producer and on his quality of life. The objective of this thesis was to analyze the potential impact of the CC on the value of the land dedicated to coffee production, as well as the perception of the producer's risk and the adaptation measures that have been implemented in the Mazateca region in light of this phenomenon. from Oaxaca and the Cuetzalan Puebla region. The present investigation was carried out under the Ricardian approach and a study on risk perception. It was found that the CC will dramatically impact the value of the land dedicated to coffee production. Estimates of the impact of the CC on the value of land for the Mazateca region would range from 25% to 168% and for the Cuetzalan region from 37% to 177%. The producers identified that the CC will affect the yield and the quality of the product, contributing to the decrease of their agricultural income. The perception of risk is not being sufficient for producers to implement adaptive strategies in their agroecosystems. Instead, migration continues to be an escape route from the coffee crisis. Due to the socio-economic importance that this activity represents for coffee-producing countries and the complexity of the factors that influence the problem, it is necessary to carry out more applied research that contributes to a better understanding of it and helps to identify risks and threats to generate timely strategies for adaptation and mitigation to the potential impacts of CC.
