EVALUACION CON EL INDICE DE ESTETICA DENTAL A LOS PACIENTES DE LA ESPECIALIDAD EN ORTODONCIA DE LA UNIVERSIDAD AUTONOMA DE NAYARIT DEL PERIODO 2010 AL 2017

Objective: To determine the degree of malocclusion and the need for orthodontic treatment in a Tepic, Nayarit population through the Dental Aesthetic Index (DAI). Material and Methods:The study is descriptive, observational and transversal. The sample consisted of 230 orthodontic pretreatment study models from the Orthodontic clinic of the Universidad Autónoma de Nayarit from 2010 to 2017, which were evaluated with the Dental Aesthetic Index. A digital caliper Mitutoyo and a computer werw used. The program Microsoft Office Excel 2007 was used for descriptive statistics. Results: The average age was 17,2 years and the sample consisted of 56% of the female sex and 44% of men. The DAI presented an average of 32,29. 32,1% of the sample had a very severe malocclusion requiring mandatory treatment, 28,6% had a normal occlusion without need for treatment, 20% had severe malocclusion with a need for treatment desirable by the patient and the category of definitive malocclusion requiring treatment was presented in 19,1%. Conclusion: The population evaluated has a high need for orthodontic treatment, because 71,4% suffers a malocclusion of varying degrees and almost one third requires mandatory treatment due to disabling occlusal problems.

Objetivo: Determinar el grado de maloclusión y la necesidad de tratamiento ortodóncico en una población Tepic, Nayarit, mediante el Índice de Estética Dental (DAI). Material y Métodos: El estudio es de tipo descriptivo, observacional y transversal. La muestra que se utilizo fue de 230 modelos de estudio pretratamiento de ortodoncia de la clínica de Ortodoncia de la Universidad Autónoma de Nayarit del periodo 2010 al 2017, los cuales fueron evaluados con el Índice de Estética Dental. Se utilizó un calibrador digital marca Mitutoyo, una computadora y mediante el programa Microsoft Office Excel 2007 se realizó la estadística descriptiva. Resultados: La edad promedio fue de 17,2 años y la muestra fue conformada por un 56 % del sexo femenino y un 44 % de hombres. El DAI presentó un promedio de 32.29. El 32,1% de la muestra presentaba una maloclusión muy severa con necesidad de tratamiento obligatorio, el 28,6% tenía una oclusión normal sin necesidad de tratamiento, el 20% con maloclusión severa con necesidad de tratamiento deseable por el paciente y la categoría de maloclusión definitiva la cual requiere tratamiento se presentó en el 19.1%.Conclusión:La población evaluada tiene una alta necesidad de tratamiento ortodóncico, ya que el 71.4% padecen una maloclusión en diferente grado y casi una tercera parte requiere tratamiento obligatorio por padecer problemas oclusales discapacitantes.
