"Seven hybrids (Cucumis melo L.), four Harper and three reticulated hybrids were evaluated, the experiment was established in the township of Matamoros, Coahuila, using a random block design with three replicates. Ten melons were collected per replicate with a total of 30 melons per treatment and were divided into two groups, one of 15 was evaluated as initial treatment and the other group was stored at room temperature with maximum and minimum between 34 ° C and 24 ° C, external and internal characteristics were evaluated at 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 days of storage. The purpose of the work was to evaluate yield and quality, highlighting fruit content, shelf life and resistance during storage. Harper melon presented larger size, weight and soluble solids, highlighting the Hard Rock hybrid with 2.20 kg, the Caribbean Gold RZ hybrid averaging 15.9 ° Brix; And the Caribbean King hybrid with a yield of 63.46 ton.ha-1. During the shelf-life the external physical variables are altered as they decrease significantly. Internal physical variables were the most affected during storage. Harper-type hybrids were the ones with the longest shelf life compared to the rest of the genotypes, whose maximum limit was 10 days. The Hard Rock hybrid presented the highest weight loss rate factor, however, comparing the genotypes to 10 days, the Cruiser hybrid lost a higher percentage of weight."
