La invención consiste en una maquina que sirve para afilar una herramienta que sirva para maquinar elementos que requieran perfil de involuta con cualquier tipo de diámetro base. Esto se logra a partir del movimiento relativo entre ésta y el agente abrasivo. Tal movimiento consiste en la rotación de cualquiera de los anteriores sobre un eje y el desplazamiento en línea recta del otro, o teniendo uno en rotación sobre un eje y el desplazamiento en línea recta de éste mismo manteniendo la contraparte fija. Puede afilarse ambas caras de la herramienta, tanto la lateral derecha como la izquierda.
