The potential of UAV and very high-resolution satellite imagery for yellow and stem rust detection and phenotyping in Ethiopia

Very high (spatial and temporal) resolution satellite (VHRS) and high-resolution unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) imagery provides the opportunity to develop new crop disease detection methods at early growth stages with utility for early warning systems. The capability of multispectral UAV, SkySat and Pleiades imagery as a high throughput phenotyping (HTP) and rapid disease detection tool for wheat rusts is assessed. In a randomized trial with and without fungicide control, six bread wheat varieties with differing rust resistance were monitored using UAV and VHRS. In total, 18 spectral features served as predictors for stem and yellow rust disease progression and associated yield loss. Several spectral features demonstrated strong predictive power for the detection of combined wheat rust diseases and the estimation of varieties’ response to disease stress and grain yield. Visible spectral (VIS) bands (Green, Red) were more useful at booting, shifting to VIS–NIR (near-infrared) vegetation indices (e.g., NDVI, RVI) at heading. The top-performing spectral features for disease progression and grain yield were the Red band and UAV-derived RVI and NDVI. Our findings provide valuable insight into the upscaling capability of multispectral sensors for disease detection, demonstrating the possibility of upscaling disease detection from plot to regional scales at early growth stages.

En lo que sigue nos proponemos ver cuáles fueron las consecuencias del paso del urbanismo normativo al urbanismo dibujado. Para ello, en una primera parte, describiremos cuáles fueron las condiciones de producción del plano basados en dos fuentes: una de las dos copias conocidas de éste y la memoria que lo explica. En la segunda parte haremos un análisis de los principales elementos de la propuesta con el propósito de explicar la codificación de la ciudad futura que se proponía. En la parte final discutiremos cuáles fueron las principales consecuencias para la planeación, de la introducción de este nuevo instrumento en el contexto histórico de la Bogotá del momento.

Génesis del nacionalismo de derecha en la América Latina del siglo XXI

Desde el siglo XIX se han realizado diversos estudios acerca de los orígenes de las naciones modernas, incluyendo su fundamento ideológico: el nacionalismo. En Europa y Estados Unidos se ha relacionado al nacionalismo con la ruta ideológica de la derecha política, sin embargo en el caso de países de América Latina, el nacionalismo ha estado más enlazado con una visión de izquierda política. A finales del siglo XX y comienzos del siglo XXI, en Latinoamérica se han venido gestando agrupaciones políticas nacionalistas de caracteres tradicionalistas y orientados a ciertos valores conservadores. Usando los casos de México y Perú, el presente trabajo explica por qué están surgiendo grupos nacionalistas que pueden ser asociados a la derecha política en la América Latina del siglo XXI, cuando históricamente grupos de tal índole han correspondido más al continente europeo.

Access to water is a common struggle of the communities in the state of Chiapas, with the effects of urban expansion these struggles increase and with them the challenges that these populations already face, having a greater impact on the rural environment. The struggles to satisfy this basic need are a factor that has triggered processes that promote community participation. Based on a qualitative analysis, this paper compares two existing forms of participation in the rural communities of the Metropolitan Area of Tuxtla Gutierrez that allow the population to manage actions to improve their quality of life. The objective is to analyze how these processes promote or restrict the empowerment of the community and allow progress, not only in the population's access to water, but also in the construction of the right to the city. From the urban-rural linkages, the right to the city is discussed beyond the city, addressing other territories. The study identifies factors that show changes in the participation of the populations and strengthen the community, as well as factors in the relationships of the community and of the community with other actors that limit the scope of the processes.

Andamios interiores: génesis del estridentismo

La mayoría de vanguardias entabló la renovación como idea primigenia que rechazaba el pasado y buscaba fundar la idea del presente y del futuro. Dicha idea estaba permeada por el mundo moderno que se configuró a principios del siglo XX. Aquella idea de renovación se diseñó dentro de la retórica y del discurso vanguardista. El estridentismo no fue la excepción. Aun, el estridentismo utilizó la performatividad para enfatizar la idea de la renovación. Es ahí cuando, dentro de esa performatividad, Manuel Maples Arce y los otros miembros del estridentismo acuñaron un lenguaje grandilocuente semejante a la retórica bíblica. Dicho acto tuvo como propósito el escándalo para la posterior incorporación del estridentismo dentro del campo literario. Esta estrategia no sólo quedó en el acto performativo, sino también podemos encontrarlo dentro de algunas obras literarias. Tal es el caso de Andamios Interiores, primer poemario del estridentismo compuesto por Manuel Maples Arce. De esta manera, existe un paralelismo entre el poemario de Maples Arce y el mito bíblico del génesis. De este modo, el yo lírico del texto se erige como un Adán moderno, un hombre que hereda el nuevo mundo, es decir, el Edén mecánico de la ciudad, lugar idóneo del estridentismo. Asimismo, aparece la mujer moderna como coheredera de la sociedad fabril. Ambos cumplen ciertos roles que analizaremos en el presente trabajo.
