Se discute teórica y conceptualmente el paradigma tradicional de la investigación moderno/colonial desde una perspectiva de paz descolonizadora a partir de la experiencia intercultural del pueblo Nasa Wes´x Tolima (Colombia), con respecto al conflicto entre los actores legales e ilegales inmersos en sus territorios. La originalidad consiste en abordar la problemática desde la ruptura epistémica de la interculturalidad para la paz.

Análisis de carga mental y error humano entre dos centros de lavado

El objetivo de este estudio es el de conocer si la propuesta de un panel de control optimizado reduce el nivel de carga mental al compararlo con el panel de control actual de un centro de lavado Frigidaire mediante un análisis jerárquico de tareas (HTA) en conjunto con un estudio TAFEI y un estudio NASA-TLX. Como resultado de este trabajo, en el que participaron 20 personas de Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, México, se encontró que la tarea de lavado de ropa y selección de ciclo con el panel de control actual genera un nivel de carga mental de 89 y 53 puntos al utilizar el panel de control actual. No se han encontrado otros estudios en los que se realice un análisis de carga cognitiva de paneles de control de los centros de lavado. En base a los resultados se puede determinar que los usuarios sienten una mejora en el nivel de carga mental de 28 % y 45 % con las nuevas propuestas de paneles de control.

Negative impact of oral health conditions on oral health related quality of life of community dwelling elders in Mexico city, a population based study

Aim: Oral health in old persons is frequently poor; non-functional prostheses are common and negatively affect quality of life. The objective of this study was to estimate the impact of oral health problems on oral health related quality of life in a sample of home dwelling Mexican elders.

Methods: Household survey in 655 persons 70 years old and over residing in one county in Mexico City.

Variables: Oral Health Related Quality of Life (Short version of the Oral Health Impact Profile validated in Mexico-OHIP-14-sp), self-perception of general and oral health, xerostomia, utilization of dental services, utilization and functionality of removable dental prostheses, dental and periodontal conditions, age, gender, marital status, schooling, depression, cognitive impairment and independence in activities of daily living (ADL). A negative binomial regression model was fitted.

Results: Mean age was 79.2 ± 7.1 years; 54.2% were women. Mean OHIP-14-Sp score was 6.8 ± 8.7, median was 4. The final model showed that men (RR = 1.30); persons with xerostomia (RR = 1.41); no utilization of removable prostheses (RR = 1.55); utilization of non-functional removable prostheses (RR = 1.69); fair self-perception of general health (RR = 1.34); equal (RR = 1.43) or worse (RR = 2.32) self-perception of oral health compared with persons of the same age; and being dependent for at least one ADL (RR = 1.71) increased the probability of higher scores of the OHIP-14-sp. Age, schooling, depression, cognitive impairment and periodontal conditions showed no association.

Conclusions: Oral rehabilitation can improve quality of life, health education and health promotion for the elder and their caregivers may reduce the risk of dental problems.

Effect of exogenous xylanase on rumen in vitro gas production and degradability of wheat straw

In Mongolia, the low and seasonal yield of native pastures causes a feed gap between the annual pasture provision and the requirements of grazing ruminants. Therefore, there is a growing need to improve the feeding value of locally available resources such as wheat straw for supplementary feeding. Wheat straw constitutes an important source of roughage for ruminants. It typically contain more than 70% neutral detergent fiber (NDF) on a dry matter (DM) basis, with less than 40% total digestive tract digestibility of the NDF, even under ideal feeding conditions (NRC 2001).

The objective of this study was to determine effects of xylanase on in vitro gas production (GP) and in sacco degradability of wheat straw. Rumen fluid was obtained from three Mongolian native goats fitted with permanent rumen cannulas. The trial consisted of five doses (0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 μL/g of substrate) of a commercial xylanase (Dyadic® xylanase PLUS, Dyadic International, Inc., Jupiter, FL, USA). For the in sacco degradability, different levels of xylanase enzyme were added directly onto 2 g of wheat straw in nylon bags and incubated in the rumen for 3, 6, 12, 24 and 48 h to estimate degradability of wheat straw. Total GP increased (P < 0.001) at all times of incubation at intermediate levels of xylanase. Methane production had a similar pattern at 3 and 12 h of incubation; increased linearly at 24 h of incubation, and was unaffected at 6 and 48 h of incubation. Rumen NH3-N concentration increased linearly at 3 h and the highest values were observed with intermediate enzyme levels. All ruminal volatile fatty acids increased linearly with intermediate levels of the fibrolytic enzyme. The in sacco rate of dry matter degradation decreased linearly (P = 0.020) with increasing enzymes. Intermediate levels of xylanase improved rumen kinetic fermentation and degradability. The outcome of this research indicated that the application of xylanase enzyme could improve in vitro GP fermentation of wheat straw.

Study of the influence of Xanthate Derivative Structures on Copper Sulfide Mineral Adsorption Under Acidic Conditions

Adsorption of commercial xanthate derivatives on copper sulfide mineral (covellite, CuS) was studied by kinetics and isotherm adsorption experiments. The adsorption of xanthate derivatives was confirmed by FTIR (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy) and XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) results. Experiments were performed with two different xanthate derivatives, C-4410 (O-pentyl S-2-propenyl ester) and C-4940 (isobutyl xanthogen ethyl formate), on individual doses of 0.05 g of powdered covellite. It was found that the equilibrium times at pH 2, 4, and 6 were different for both xanthate derivatives. The shortest times were achieved at pH 2 and 4. The results suggest that C-4110 can be used as collector in a wide range of pH, while C-4940 is limited to lower pH values. Pseudo first- and pseudo second-order kinetics models were thus applied to the experimental data for pH 2. The information obtained from the kinetics models combined with XPS allowed proposing the adsorption mechanism for the covellite-xanthate derivative pair. The adsorption takes place through a non-covalent interaction for C-4410 and chemisorption process for C-4940. The best-fitting isotherm models for C-4410 and C-4940 adsorption were Redlich–Peterson and Freundlich, respectively, which yield a maximum adsorption capacity of 57.07 mg g 1 for C-4410 and 44.62 mg g 1 for C-4940.

The present study was carried out in order to evaluate the chemical composition, as well as the digestibility of organic matter and the NDF of multinutritional blocks (BMN) based on pitaya (Stenocereus griseus) and xoconostle (Stenocereus stellatus) in substitution of sugarcane molasses. BMN were made from (Stenocereus griseus L.) and (Stenocereus stellatus) whose composition in both cases was: whole fruit 35%, cement 3.00%, lime, 5.00%, salt 5.00%, urea 5.00%, molasses 15.00,% corn stubble 30.00 %, mineral salt 2%. The blocks made from pitaya (BMNP) had, on a dry basis, a CP percentage of 27.98 ± 0.75, compared to the blocks made with xoconostle (BMNX) (Stenocereus stellatus) 27.58 ± 0.78. The average crude fiber value for BMNP was 15.61 ± 2.61 vs. 15.52 ± 1.365 for BMNX and had no difference at (P> 05). Regarding NDF, the results show values (BMNP) of 36.65% ± 1.50 compared to BMNX 35.63% ± 0.54. With respect to the FAD, the amounts for BMNP 25.04% ± 0.74 and for BMNX 24.32% ± 0.87. The acid detergent lignin values were 5.31 ± 0.91 and 4.96 ± 0.6. In all cases there was no significant difference at (P> 05). The in vitro digestibility by means of the gas production technique showed a digestibility percentage for BMNP of 50.48 ± 3.85 and for BMNX of 57.15 ± 2.75. Tukey's test showed a significant difference at (P <05).

Influence of cellulase or xylanase on the in vitro rumen gas production and fermentation of corn stover

In vitro gas production (GP) technique was used to investigate effect of exogenous enzymes cellulase (CEL) or xylanase (XYL) at different doses on in vitro fermentation characteristics of corn stover. Enzymes were supplemented at 0 (control), 10, 20, 40 and 80 μg/g DM. Gas production was determined at 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 24, 36, 48 and 72 h of incubation. After 72 h, the incubation was stopped and supernatant pH was determined, and filtered to determine dry matter (DMD), neutral detergent fiber (NDFD) and acid detergent fiber (ADFD) degradabilities. Interaction effects occurred for enzyme type and dose for all measured gas parameters with exception of the lag time, DMD, organic matter degradability (OMD), NDFD, metabolizable energy (ME), short chain fatty acids (SCFA) and microbial crude protein (MCP) production. Cellulase and XYL increased GP (P<0.05) at different incubation hours with better results at the dose of 40 μg/g DM. The dose 80 μg XYL/g DM had the lowest GP compared to other doses. In addition, CEL and XYL decreased pH with increasing OMD, ME, SCFA and MCP production at 40 μg/ g DM of corn stover. The present results suggested that the level of CEL and XYL at 40 μg/g DM have higher GP than other levels of enzymes, imply this level can be more effectively to improve rumen fermentation; however, the difference of XYL between treatments and control was less than that of CEL.

"In this work, the scale-up from 0.01 to 10 L process for the co-production of hydrogen (H2) and ethanol (EtOH) by a genetically engineered Escherichia coli that utilizes hemicellulosic hydrolysates from wheat straw pretreated (WSP) as substrate is presented. Co-production of biofuels was performed through the redirection of carbon-flux to ethanol by deleting ldhA (D-lactate dehydrogenase) and frdD (fumarate reductase) genes in an H2-overproducer strain (E. coli WDH). Resulting strain, E. coli WDH-LF (Delta hycA Delta frdD Delta ldhA), increased up to 70% and 167% the H2 and EtOH production from glucose compared with the parenteral strain. Using WSP as substrate, the yields of H2 and EtOH remained constant at all the evaluated scales. In 10 L bioreactors, the production parameters such as maximum production, production rate and yield were 5,603.0 +/- 233.5 mL H2/L, 41.4 +/- 4.0 mL H2/L/h, 342.7 +/- 14.3 mL H2/g TRS, 7.90 +/- 0.28 g EtOH/L and 0.48 +/- 0.01 g EtOH/g TRS, respectively. The results demonstrate the potential of the co-production of H2 and EtOH at different production scales by the engineered E. coli strain using lignocellulosic biomass as feedstock, such as wheat straw hydrolysates."

Los resultados de esta obra no tienen precedentes en la Licenciatura en Historia que se imparte en la ujat: estudiantes de licenciatura y posgrado se involucraron en un equipo encabezado por investigadores consolidados y en consolidación, y financiado por nuestra máxima casa de estudios, cada uno de los miembros con su propia propuesta de investigación. Es importante mencionar, que este proyecto obtuvo financiamiento del Programa de Fomento a la Investigación y Consolidación de los Cuerpos Académicos (pfica). Agradecemos profundamente a la ujat el haber tenido confianza en este trabajo, y esperamos que la meta de convertir este libro en material de consulta para los interesados en la historia de Tabasco durante el siglo xix, se logre a corto plazo. Consideramos que aquí están las principales perspectivas desde las cuales se abordó el siglo xix en Tabasco.
