“La primera vez que tuve consciencia de la asociación entre diferentes expresiones musicales y nociones de construcción identitaria fue a los nueve años. Cuando respondí en el colegio a la pregunta “¿qué música escuchas?”, diciendo “música clásica y Black Sabbath”- siendo la primera la que escuchaba mi hermano mayor, y la segunda la banda que más me gustaba de las pocas que sabía que mi papá oía-, recibí una reacción que no esperaba –pues no esperaba ninguna, de hecho-. Por la música clásica me percibieron como pretencioso, y por Black Sabbath me salí de sus posibilidades de categorización más convencionales, así que simplemente me llamaron raro. Unos años después, ya en mi adolescencia, pude ver en mi primera incursión en el ámbito universitario –en el programa infantil y juvenil de una universidad de Bogotá cómo distinciones similares se repetían. El jazz y la música clásica eran las que se estudiaban en clase; otras músicas (blues, rock, reggae, metal, salsa, eventualmente alguna colombiana) tenían, y solo a veces, lugar en ensambles optativos sin mucha trascendencia académica. Pronto supe, con extrañeza, que esta limitada variedad quedaba prácticamente anulada en la licenciatura. A partir de estas experiencias habían comenzado a rondar en mi cabeza preguntas como ¿Por qué parece haber un vínculo entre expresiones musicales y jerarquías sociales? ¿Por qué el gusto musical no puede estar libre de estas asociaciones? ¿Por qué parecen vincular los gustos musicales a diferentes niveles de intelecto? ¿Por qué llaman a una música seria, culta o erudita, y eso que significa para el resto? Y, sobre todo, ¿por qué se excluye categóricamente tanta música del espacio académico? El devenir de ese proceso me conllevó a plantear la investigación que presento, con el propósito de comenzar a encontrar respuestas a algunos de estos interrogantes que me han perseguido por tantos años”.

Política de lo materno de dirigentes barriales en el espacio público

"En este artículo se analiza un conjunto de relatos de dirigentes vecinales, recabados a partir de dos investigaciones doctorales concluidas, con el objetivo de desvelar los distintos modos en que las mujeres invocan roles tradicionalmente asociados a lo femenino —protección, cuidado, maternidad— para legitimarse en el espacio público y participar en la política local. Se argumentará que las mujeres observadas participan en la configuración de una “política de lo materno” que, pese a reforzar estereotipos tradicionales sobre el rol de las mujeres, constituye un reservorio de experiencias, aprendizajes y prácticas que pueden ser leídas en clave de politización y construcción de ciudadanía".

El impacto de la educación en la intención emprendedora: efecto del entorno universitario

Este trabajo presenta un modelo tendiente a explicar las relaciones que afectan a la Intención Emprendedora (EI) con respecto al Entorno Universitario (EU), tomando como punto de partida la Teoría del Comportamiento Planificado. Se trabajó bajo el método cuantitativo. La muestra estuvo conformada por estudiantes de licenciatura en áreas económico administrativas de la Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán (UADY) (n=271). Los resultados muestran que a nivel estadístico parece ser que el EU tiene un efecto positivo en la IE de manera significativa.

Sexual harassment and stalking in female university students: negative emotions and coping with these forms of gender-based violence

Stalking and sexual harassment, as expressions of gender violence in the field of higher education, are very pressing problems as they have been exhibited by the protest movements that have arisen in Higher Education Institutions. The objective of this work is to analyze the narratives of university women who experienced stalking and/or sexual harassment in Higher Education Institutions in the municipalities of Tampico and Ciudad Madero in the state of Tamaulipas. The purpose was to learn about their experiences and their way of dealing with these forms of gender violence, using qualitative research and a phenomenological design. The technique used for data collection was the semi-structured interview. The selection of the informants was based on intentional sampling and the number of cases examined was guided by the saturation criterion, the total number of participants being thirteen. The analysis of the interviews shows that acts of stalking and sexual harassment provoke various emotions in women that can shed light on the problem of violence from the perspective of the victims, instead of considering only their own explanations, which are often rationalized or consistent with socially legitimized meanings. In sum, the study of emotions allows us to conclude that women within the university context suffer from a psychophysical discomfort that does not allow them to live a full university life.

"Desde una perspectiva fenoménica, se hace un acercamiento al mundo de vida de jóvenes en el espacio turístico de Chacahua, Oaxaca, México. Se reflexiona sobre la vida juvenil, la construcción de las personas jóvenes como sujetos sociales y los significados y configuraciones que implica el que habiten en estos espacios de forma cotidiana. La narrativa comienza con una mirada al contexto social comunitario en el que se sitúa y se describe a Hannia y Agustín, quienes dan rostro al proceso social juvenil para adentrarnos, con ellos, en las reflexiones sobre la interacción con la alteridad, la manera en que perciben y viven su territorio, las transformaciones a partir del crecimiento turístico de esta comunidad y cómo esto reconfigura su mundo de vida".

The social responsibility of tobacco production in Nayarit. Who pays the price?

In Nayarit, Mexico, there is an Integrated System of Tobacco Production (SIPT) which operates mainly with the participation of campesino families. However, for some preparatory work and to guarantee the harvest, local jornaleros and indigenous migrant families from the mountainous regions of Nayarit, Jalisco, Durango, and Zacatecas are hired, manly on a temporarily basis. They live for several months in precarious conditions in the houses and yards of the growers and on the agricultural plots. Since the Marco’s Convention and the General Law on Tobacco Control, the companies that control the SIPT have adopted new narratives and strategies for managing and sustaining their businesses, mainly emphasizing the so-called Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The objective of this article is to analyze the CSR actions of the tobacco companies from an approach of accumulation by dispossession, understanding CSR as a capitalist tool for the extraction of surplus value. With the support of a qualitative methodology, based on bibliographic and hemerographic review, direct observation, field diaries and interviews, also corporate actions comprised between 2018 and 2023 have also been documented. British American Tobacco and Tabacos del Pacífico Norte have "sponsored" the operation of the Florece centers and the Sustenta program in the tobacco fields of Nayarit, even though, in the tobacco reality of the tobacco industry the operation of such programs and their costs are assumed and absorbed by the growers, while the companies disseminate an image of sustainable business management.
