_______________ POLLINATION AND FRUIT SET OF PITAHAYA SOLFERINA (Hylocereus sp.) FROM POBLANA MIXTECA. ABSTRACT: The solferina pitaya (Hylocereus sp.) called by the purple color of its flesh, is cultivated and wild in Mexico, reported low fruit and plants have problems falling flower buds, flowers and little or no fruit set. Research indicates a possible mechanism of sexual incompatibility. This work was oriented at the identification, characterization and morphological description of two genotypes of solferina pitahayas one pulp and white pulp. To identify the compatibility issue between species, the phenology of flowering, breeding behavior, synchrony between the blooms and sexual compatibility by performing manual among the three genotypes studied cross-pollinations. In an experiment with plants cactus flower growing in greenhouse conditions, applied thidiazuron and gibberellic acid, to know its effect on vegetative and floral bud break and a trial was conducted in the field, with the application of GA3 at time of anthesis for we know its effect on fruit set. With the morphological characterization, the results indicate that in vegetative (stems) and reproductive characteristics (flowers), are reliable descriptors to identify the genotypes. The mechanism of sexual self-incompatibility genotypes solferina two and one self-compatible the white flesh pitaya were recognized, there is sexual compatibility between them, but their lack of synchrony blooms. The promoters inhibited flowering solferina pitahaya and promoted vegetative growth. Field, the application of gibberellic acid, increased the percentage of set solferina flowers pollinated with flowers of the same genotype but from different plants.
