"Este trabajo se realizó en Buenavista Saltillo, Coahuila, México, con el objetivo de estimar la heterosis y heterobeltiosis de híbridos de chile para producción en invernadero. El material vegetal utilizado fueron; chile Jalapeño Mitla, criollo Mirador y chile Tampiqueño 74 como progenitores hembra, cinco cultivares de chile pimiento; UANRd, UANYw, UANOg, UANCn y UANShw como progenitores macho. Los híbridos obtenidos y sus progenitores, fueron establecidos bajo un diseño experimental de bloques completos al azar con tres repeticiones. Se estimaron las variables; rendimiento total de fruto, frutos por planta, peso promedio de fruto, contenido de vitamina C, carotenoides totales, contenido de capsaicina, días a floración, días a cosecha y altura de planta. Los análisis de varianza exhibieron diferencias significativas (P<0.01) entre híbridos y progenitores en todas las variables estudiadas. En rendimiento total de fruto, el híbrido 1x5 superó en 333,5% la media de los progenitores hembra y en 159,3% a los progenitores macho, mientras que el 2x6 superó en 104 % la media de número de frutos por planta de los progenitores hembra y en 725% a la media de los progenitores macho. Los progenitores machos presentaron mayor cantidad de vitamina C y carotenoides totales, mientras que las hembras la mayor cantidad de capsaicina, los híbridos formados presentaron cantidades intermedias en vitamina C y capsaicina. Por lo tanto se concluye que los híbridos inter-raciales obtenidos presentan características de rendimiento y calidad sobresalientes para su producción en invernadero."

This work was carried out in Buenavista Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, with the objective of estimating the heterosis and heterobeltiosis of hybrids of chile, for greenhouse production. The plant material used was; chili Jalapeño Mitla, creole Mirador and chili Tampiqueño 74 as female, Five cultivars of chili peppers; UANRd, UANYw, UANOg, UANCn and UANShw as male progenitors. The obtained hybrids and their progenitors were established under a randomized complete block experimental design with three replicates. Were estimated the variables; total yield of fruit, fruits per plant, average fruit weight, vitamin C content, total carotenoids, capsaicin content, flowering days, harvest days and plant height. Analysis of variance showed significant differences (P <0.01) between hybrids and progenitors in all variables studied. In total yield of fruit, the 1x5 hybrid exceeded the average of the female progenitors by 333.5% and the male progenitors by 159.3%, while the 2x6 exceeded the average fruits per plant of the female progenitors by 104% and by 725% on the mean of Male progenitors. The male parents presented more vitamin C content and total carotenoids, while the females had the highest content of capsaicin, the hybrids formed had intermediate amounts in vitamin C and capsaicin. Therefore, it is concluded that the obtained hybrids present outstanding performance and quality characteristics for their greenhouse production. Key.
