"Se propone un sistema de biosensado basado en la detección de anticuerpos IgG marcados con fluoresceína-5-isotiocianato (FITC) mediante emisión de clústeres de plata sintetizados dentro de zeolitas (FAUX Ag6) impregnadas con diferentes aminas: polietilenimina (PEI) ramificada, tetraetilenepentamina (TEPA) y dietilenetriamina (DETA). Se caracterizaron y compararon estas partículas funcionalizadas y se bioconjugaron con anticuerpos anti IgG. Finalmente se evaluó la detección de anticuerpos IgG-FITC en concentraciones menores a 10 ng/mL. Demostrando así, como prueba de concepto, un sistema de biosensado innovador, sensible y específico que permite la detección del analito en pocos minutos."

The use of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV) has expanded in recent years to include them in inspection, maintenance, and repair missions. These missions require the automation of tasks such as autonomous navigation and station-keeping, which are pretty challenging due to the complexity of the vehicle itself and the underwater environment. Traditional control strategies have been used to deal with those problems before, but their performance is limited since they do not consider non-linearities, external disturbances, or model uncertainties. Non-traditional controllers have been explored too, but have shortcomings such as being model-based, parameter-dependant, or so. Additionally, the nature of some objects implies the involvement of multiple vehicles to manipulate them, making the manipulation mission even harder. Collaboration of AUVs is a strong challenge since underwater communications are limited or null. An advanced control strategy dealing with the trajectory tracking and the station-keeping problem would be desirable for simplicity and robustness. If this controller could also help coordinate multiple vehicles without requiring them to communicate with each other, it would make collaborative manipulation tasks reachable. For this purpose, a model-free high-order Sliding Mode Controller (SMC) is presented in this project. Unlike other control approaches, the proposed control strategy achieves finite-time convergence to a practical zero error in a time-base that the user can arbitrarily define. This characteristic will be used to coordinate the navigation of two AUVs to manipulate an object underwater. The performance of the proposed controller was evaluated by numerical simulations and experiments in a semi-Olympic swimming pool and compared with classic and state-of-the-art control strategies regarding trajectory tracking and station-keeping problems. Results have shown that the proposed controller can achieve finite-time convergence of the tracking errors to a practical zero value in the predefined time-base. Results also demonstrated that the convergence time could be arbitrarily selected by the user and achieved by the controller resulting in, as far as the author knows, the first controller with this characteristic for AUVs navigation. The simulations and experiments also showed that the proposed controller outperformed classical and state-of-the-art controllers regarding the Root Mean Square of the tracking errors and energy consumption. Finally, the proposed model-free high-order SMC coordinated two BlueROV2 vehicles in a collaborative manipulation mission without vehicle-to-vehicle communication. Numerical simulation results confirmed that the proposed controller could manage the vehicles to follow a predefined coordinated trajectory to approach, grip, transport, and release an object without communicating with each other.

La obesidad es un problema mundial que afecta la calidad de vida de las personas. Es la raíz de enfermedades como; la diabetes, la hipertensión y algunos tipos de cáncer. La educación y las políticas públicas son importantes, pero no suficientes. este documento presenta una comparación de aplicaciones móviles que junto al uso de dispositivos inteligentes aborda el tema del control del peso a través de la información del consumo y del gasto de calorías, así como rutinas de ejercicio y la alimentación dando como resultado una reducción en los niveles de obesidad en México.

In this paper, we report the synthesis of block and random copolymers of 2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propane sulfonic acid (AMPS) and methyl methacrylate (MMA), with different AMPS feed ratios. These solution-processable copolymers with strongly sulfonated acid groups resulted in membranes with tunable ion exchange (IEC) and water absorption capacities. AFM images confirmed the microphase separation of PAMPS-b-PMMA-1:1 block copolymer membrane, annealed under the appropriate conditions. The resulting copolymers from the random combination of a 1:1 molar ratio of AMPS and MMA monomers are effective at enhancing the esterification conversion of acetic acid, when compared with a reaction catalyzed by PAMPS-b-PMMA block copolymers and the previously studied catalytic membranes. With the PAMPS-co-PMMA-1:1 membrane, the esterification reaction using acetic acid achieved 85% isopropyl acetate. These results are closely correlated with the increase in IEC (2.63 mmol H+ g−1 ) and the relationship between weight loss (20.3%) and swelling degree (68%) in 2-propanol. © 2022 by the authors. Sea G = (V, E) un grafo no dirigido. El problema de encontrar un conjunto independiente fuerte en G, es identificar un conjunto S ⊆ V , tal que dados dos vértices arbitrarios de S, éstos estén separados entre sí por el menos tres aristas. Encontrar un conjunto S de tamaño máximo pertenece a la clase NP-Difícil. Por otro lado, el problema de encontrar un conjunto dominante total en G es identificar un conjunto D ⊆ V , tal que cualquier vértice en V tenga al menos un vecino que pertenezca a D. Encontrar un conjunto D de tamaño mínimo también pertenece a la clase NP-Difícil. En este trabajo de tesis se diseñaron dos algoritmos, uno que resuelve el problema de encontrar un conjunto independiente fuerte maximal y otro que resuelve el problema de encontrar un conjunto dominante total minimal. Estos dos problemas son menos restrictivos que las versiones de optimización descritas al principio de este texto y se sabe que pertenecen a la clase P. Los algoritmos diseñados corren en un sistema distribuido, son autoestabilizantes, son tolerantes a fallas transitorias y funcionan para grafos Halin. Los grafos Halin pertenecen a la clase de grafos 2-outerplanares y tienen la propiedad de que se pueden partir en dos subgrafos muy conocidos, un árbol y un ciclo. Los algoritmos propuestos aprovechan la propiedad anterior para disminuir la complejidad de los mismos. Hasta donde tenemos conocimiento, los algoritmos propuestos, que corren en tiempo lineal en el número de vértices, son los algoritmos más rápidos existentes para los problemas del conjunto independiente fuerte maximal y el conjunto dominante total minimal.
Let G = (V, E) be an undirected graph. The problem of finding a strong stable set in G, is to identify a set S ⊆ V , such that given two arbitrary vertices of S, they are separated from each other by at least three edges. Finding a set S of maximum size belongs to the class NP-Hard. On the other hand, the problem of finding a total dominanting set in G is to identify a set D ⊆ V , such that any vertex in V has at least one neighbor belonging to D. Finding a set D of minimum size also belongs to the class NP-Hard. In this thesis work, two algorithms were designed, one that solves the problem of finding a maximal strong stable set and one that solves the problem of finding a minimal total dominanting set. These two problems are less restrictive than the optimization versions described at the beginning of this text and are known to belong to the P class. The designed algorithms run on a distributed system, are self-stabilizing, are transient fault tolerant, and work for Halin graphs. Halin graphs belong to the 2-outerplanar class of graphs and have the property that they can be split into two well-known subgraphs, a tree and a cycle. The proposed algorithms take advantage of the above property to decrease the complexity of the algorithms. To the best of our knowledge, the proposed algorithms, which run in linear time in the number of vertices, are the fastest existing algorithms for the maximal strong stable set and minimal total dominating set problems.

Microbiological Analysis of the Air in a Popular Fish Processing and Marketing Area

"Fish are marketed as a food and consumed worldwide. During the production of food, contamination by microorganisms is possible through the air, soil, water, surfaces, food handlers, etc. The air does not have a natural microbial composition, but it is a vehicle for the transmission of microorganisms of economic and health interest because they are associated with food spoilage and human diseases. The objective of this study was the microbiological analysis of the air in an area popular for the processing and marketing of fish products in the city of Tepic Nayarit. Using the passive or sedimentation method to collect microorganisms present in the air, the proportion of aerobic mesophile bacteria, coliform bacteria, fungi and yeast was determined at different locations in the fish processing and marketing area for four weeks. The results indicated that the aerobic mesophiles had the highest counts among all the microbial groups analyzed at the twelve different sampling points during the four weeks of the study; their numbers ranged from 2.44 to 2.95 log CFU/m3/h, followed by molds with counts from 1.44 to 2.75 log CFU/m3/h, yeasts with counts from 0.7 to 2.01 log CFU/m3/h and coliforms with counts that ranged from 0.7 to 1.68 log CFU/m3/h. We determined the proportion of the viable microbiological population present in the air at the different sampling points of the study area; several of these sampling points presented values above those recommended by various agencies around the world. Knowledge of the biological hazards transported through the air is important to establish and reduce the risk to the health of occupants and the contamination pathways of processed and marketed fishery products that may be associated with spoilage and foodborne diseases."

Impact of automation on enhancing energy quality in grid-connected photovoltaic systems

Rapid growth in the integration of new consumers into the electricity sector, particularly in the industrial sector, has necessitated better control of the electricity supply and of the users’ op-erating conditions to guarantee an adequate quality of service as well as the unregulated dis-turbances that have been generated in the electrical network that can cause significant failures, breakdowns and interruptions, causing considerable expenses and economic losses. This research examines the characteristics of electrical variations in equipment within a company in the industrial sector, analyzes the impact generated within the electrical system according to the need for operation in manufacturing systems, and proposes a new solution through automation of the regulation elements to maintain an optimal system quality and prevent damage and equipment failures while offering a cost-effective model. The proposed solution is evaluated through a reliable simulation in ETAP (Energy Systems Modeling, Analysis and Optimization) software, which emulates the interaction of control elements and simulates the design of electric flow equipment operation. The results demonstrate an improvement in system performance in the presence of disturbances when two automation schemes are applied as well as the exclusive operation of the capacitor bank, which improves the total system current fluctuations and improves the power factor from 85.83% to 93.42%. Such a scheme also improves the waveform in the main power system; another improvement result is when simultaneously operating the voltage and current filter together with the PV system, further improving the current fluctuations, improving the power factor from 85.83% to 94.81%, achieving better stability and improving the quality of the waveform in the main power grid.

Design and development of hydraulic clamping device for broaching process

Se desarrollo un dispositivo de sujeción hidráulica para el proceso de brochado de Brackets usados en los sistemas de frenado de automóviles, que permite reducir la variación del proceso de corte al mejorar el sistema de sujeción y con ello limitar la deformación de la pieza luego de haber sido procesada. Con este concepto de dispositivo es posible mejorar las condiciones del proceso de producción, como lo son: velocidad de corte, reducción de tiempo ciclo, rendimiento de la operación, reducción de costo de scrap, y reducción de tiempo muerto por sobre ajuste de proceso y cambio de modelo. Adicional, se hizo el desarrollo de un sistema de detección de pieza presente que permite captar cuando una pieza no es colocada correctamente en el dispositivo antes de iniciar el ciclo de corte, con esto es posible detectar fallas en el proceso que representen un riesgo para la operación. Durante la etapa de diseño se realizó una simulación del proceso de maquinado en condiciones extremas y condiciones ideales para medir la deformación de la pieza y con esto obtener los parámetros adecuados de corte para la puesta en marcha del dispositivo de sujeción. Para la validación del modelo, se realizó un estudio de habilidad de proceso Cpk y Ppk (acorde a los requerimientos de cliente) para evaluar que el nuevo proceso es eficiente y se encuentra bajo control.
A hydraulic clamping device was developed for the broaching process of Brackets used in automotivebraking systems, which allows reducing the variation of the cutting process by improving the clamping system andthereby limiting the deformation of the piece after having been processed. With this concept of device, it is possibleto improve the conditions of the production process such as: cutting speed, cycle time reduction, operationperformance, scrap cost reduction, and downtime reduction due to process over-adjustment and change over.Additionally, the development of a part detection system was made that allows capturing when a part is not correctlyplaced in the device before starting the cutting cycle, with this it is possible to detect failures in the process thatrepresent a risk to the operation. During the design stage, a simulation of the machining process was carried outin extreme conditions and ideal conditions to measure the deformation of the part and with this obtain theappropriate cutting parameters for the implementation of the clamping device. For the validation of the model, aCpk and Ppk process ability study was carried out (according to customer requirements) to assess that the newprocess is efficient and is under control.

Universal fixation system for pad printing of plastic parts

Pad printing is used in automotive, medical, electrical and other industries, employing diverse materials to transfer a 2D image onto a 3D object with different sizes and geometries. This work presents a universal fixation system for pad printing of plastic parts (UFSP4) in response to the needs of small companies that cannot afford to invest in the latest technological advances. The UFSP4 comprises two main subsystems: a mechanical support system (i.e., support structure, jig matrix and braking system) and a control system (i.e., an electronic system and an electric-hydraulic system). A relevant feature is the combination of a jig matrix and jig pins to fixate complex workpieces with different sizes. Using finite element analysis (FEA), in the mesh convergence, the total displacement converges to 0.00028781 m after 12,000 elements. The maximum equivalent stress value is 1.22 MPa for the polycarbonate plate in compliance with the safety factor. In a functionality test of the prototype performed in a production environment for one hour, the jigs fixed by the plate did not loosen, maintaining the satisfactory operation of the device. This is consistent with the displacement distribution of the creep analysis and shows the absence of the creep phenomenon. Based on FEA that underpinned the structural health computation of the braking system, the prototype was designed and built, seeking to ensure a reliable and safe device to fixate plastic parts, showing portability, low-cost maintenance and adaptability to the requirements of pad printing of automotive plastic parts.
