The Aeroelastic Tailoring (AT) technique in wind turbine blades, used as a passive control method, has proven to be a technique capable of reducing the loads acting on the turbine components. In the present work, in a 60 m length blade, the fiber orientation angle of that generates the greatest twist at the tip and the structural behavior of the blades with the implementation of the AT technique was investigated. A response surface design of experiments was used and 13 configurations were performed. The blades were analyzed by adding 1, 2 and 3 layers, with fiber orientation angles of 20°, 27.5° and 35°. The structural analysis was carried out using the ANSYS® software with operating loads of 12 m/s obtained by the Blade Element Momentum (BEM) theory. Blades with fiber orientation angles of 20° were found to have a smaller tip offset than those of 35°. The twist at the tip of the blade is dependent on the number of layers and the fiber angle, it is maximum at angles of 26°, 24° and 23° when adding 1, 2 or 3 layers respectively. The Failure Index (FI) of the max strain criteria shows an increase in all the blades with the AT technique compared to the conventional blade. The buckling Load Factor (LF) indicates that the blades with the AT technique have higher values than the conventional blade and the weight of the blade increases by the number of layers added and not by the fiber’s orientation angles.
