Urban stories and representations in the cultural memory of the Main Square of Tunja, Colombia

The relations between history and memory in the urban space inherited from the Main Square of Tunja, Colombia, are questioned during the nineteenth century and the first half of the twentieth century, and the monumental, urban and architectural representations related to the processes of independence and revolution that impacted on the foundation of the Colombian state. The model of inquiry is inductive and qualitative, and involved the integration of historical and historiographical sources that were subjected to processes of analysis, reflection, and explanatory synthesis. As a result of this work, the narratives of the changes and prevalences that characterize the urban heritage of this foundational environment decisive for the understanding of urban and cultural history in Colombia are presented.

En el año 2000, personal del Herbario CICY detectó en las cercanías de la Zona Arqueológica de Xcambó, al norte del estado de Yucatán, una pequeña planta semi-acuática que llamó la atención de los colectores. Justo a finales del año 2019, unos meses antes del inicio de la pandemia, salimos nuevamente al campo y la volvimos a conseguir. Esta vez nos cuestionamos su identidad, y tras algunas semanas de búsqueda e investigación, comprobamos que se trataba de un nuevo taxón. Este año, después de muchos ires y venires, ha sido establecida como una especie nueva para la ciencia: Heteranthera yucatana. Esta especie se caracteriza entre otras cosas por su reducido tamaño, su distribución limitada al norte del estado de Yucatán y su categoría de riesgo: “En Peligro”.

Estado actual de las poblaciones de Lonchocarpus sanctuarii (Fabaceae) en Honduras

Lonchocarpus sanctuarii, cono- cido popularmente como “chaperno negro’’ es un árbol nativo de Mesoamérica que se distribuye en México, El Sal- vador, Honduras y Nicara- gua. Esta especie habita en fragmentos de bosque seco subtropical y húmedo sub- tropical, y en Honduras se encuentran en el municipio Distrito Central y sus mayo- res amenazas son las expan- siones urbanas. Se realizaron giras de campo a tres sitios de las cinco poblaciones registra- das: UNAH-CU, Residencial La Cañada y la Colonia Hato de Enmedio. La mayoría de los individuos son brinzales (jóvenes) y las especies nati- vas con distribución restringi- da como L. sanctuarii son esenciales para mantener un equilibrio ecológico.

Recién iniciada la década de 1920 en México, se publicaron una serie de manifiestos artísticopolíticos, estos fueron El primer manifiesto estridentista, El manifiesto del Sindicato de Obreros Técnicos, Pintores y Escultores, y años más tarde el Manifiesto del grupo 30-30. Dichos documentos buscaban irrumpir e incidir en el espacio social del arte, pues contenían un carácter expositivo y performativo. Esos 3 documentos representaban el papel que querían desempeñar los artistas, al tiempo que exponía las ideas con las que éstos se autodefinieron como agentes capaces de lograr un cambio social a partir de sus producciones culturales. Además, los manifiestos establecían el inicio de algo nuevo, actual; pues conducían a sus receptores para orientarlos en torno a cómo querían ser leídos, vistos y juzgados. Finalmente, fue a partir de la emisión de estos textos que se identificaron enemigos en común, pues el género manifiesto es combativo por definición. Si nos enfocamos en establecer una traza histórica de las trayectorias de los sujetos sociales (artistas) que se involucraron en esta batalla por las ideas, es posible apreciar las dinámicas de interacción, las disputas y las relaciones que establecieron en sus propios espacios sociales, las cuales definiremos como campos, siguiendo la teoría de Pierre Bourdieu.

"β-diversity has been under continuous debate, with a current need to better understand the way in which a new wave of measures work. We assessed the results of 12 incidence-based β-diversity indices. Our results of gradual species composition overlap between paired assemblages considering progressive differences in species richness show the following: (i) four indices (β-2, β-3, β-3.s, and βr) should be used cautiously given that results with no shared species retrieve results that could be misinterpreted; (ii) all measures conceived specifically as partitioned components of species compositional dissimilarities ought to be used as such and not as independent measures per se; (iii) the non-linear response of some indices to gradual species composition overlap should be interpreted carefully, and further analysis using their results as dependent variables should be performed cautiously; and (iv) two metrics (βsim and βsor) behave predictably and linearly to gradual species composition overlap. We encourage ecologists using measures of β-diversity to fully understand their mathematical nature and type of results under the scenario to be used in order to avoid inappropriate and misleading inferences."

Shopping centers at zmcm. The companies, location and production of a neoliberal urban space

This work aims to analyze different aspects of shopping center at the Metropolitan Zone of Mexico City as location, opening year and developer company. Also it will identify diverse characteristics, economic and political phases in the country as well as the role of the development companies and shopping centers as a producers of a neoliberal urban space. This paper presents the way shopping centers importance has growth and how it had become in a neoliberal city characteristic; with this the characteristics of these urban works are visualized and related with their construction companies and local governments which has caused the transformation of the city. After conducting a census, with more than two hundred shopping centers, the study was delimited to those with the greatest significance by size, location and developer. At the beginning of the paper, the characteristics that shopping malls should have for the realization of this work are mentioned. In a first section an approach is made to the theoretical elements of the city and the shopping center and therefore identifying the developers that most  nfluence this process; the second section addresses the characteristics of places by location and the characteristics that urban planners have depending on the area where they are; the third section discusses the years of opening, the squares and relates to government administrations and the economic characteristics of the country; and finally, a tour of the urban regulations in Mexico City and its latest modifications is made.
